You mean Plan B?

At the start of the month I remarked how the communal refuse bins were overflowing, so when I went down to the basement just before the weekend I was wondering whether they would be completely buried by now. I was in for a surprise.

Yes. Empty. Unlike two days earlier.

The source of the problem is a failure of forward thinking comparable to when my previous apartment’s management company thought it would be a good idea to put a lock on the meter cupboard but not actually tell the residents what the code was. Some building work was being done in the basement area, and outside access for the bins had been blocked off. Seems no-one thought to check whether the bins would fit through the side door.

Apparently social distancing meant that the builders were not able to come in and demolish this wall, which I find hard to believe considering the noises coming from nearby building sites, and as a result the bins have to be emptied by hand. When I checked them this evening they were not “full” but I decided to get rid of all my recyclables while I had the chance.
