Yes, it is accommodation-hunting season, something that fortunately I have not had to do too many times in the past. Most of it consists of logging onto TradeMe, specifying where you want to stay and how much you are prepared to be fleeced for, and seeing which search results were clearly from someone who is trying to get a knack for creative writing. You tend to get a feel for all the euphemisms after a few phone calls.
Personally I find hunting for accommodation to be a bit of a drag, as down to it all you are looking for is a square box stacked up somewhere near a city centre. Property viewings down to it are the biggest choir, even if admittedly I am looking for a relatively short contract. Aside from making sure that the floor space reflects the number of dollars, and that the place does not look like something out of a William Hogarth engraving, I can’t really think of that many things you could do in the 2-3 minutes you are in the place.
