Apparently Jeremy Clarkson half-mumbled “nigger” during this unbroadcasted out-take from a few years ago..
The fact the clip was never actually broadcast makes me think this is thought-crime territory. Yes the word may have been on his mind at time of speaking, but from unaided viewing of the clip itself, this cannot be determined. Clarkson is known for foot-in-mouth, such as calling Gordon Brown a “one-eyed Scottish idiot”, so going after an unclear word in a cut clip is pure obsessive-compulsiveness.
What concerns me is the sheer extent British society considers it acceptable to go digging for whatever dirt there is, no matter how temperamental, in order to use it against someone. That sounds much like the sort of society I want to get away from. And did.
